Printing ordinary documents instead of photos? - photos of ankylosing spondylitis in dogs

I am looking for a new printer / scanner for the moment and are looking for a Canon Pixma and HP Photosmart, propaganda, but focuses on the printing process. I wish I could really use to use letters, documents and other printers.

These printers are very good at it? Are relatively fast? I Should any other camera at all?
